Hello friend,
How are you doing? Have you noticed it’s been raining all over the world way more than usual? It’s because the temperature is rising and causing a boom-bust cycle. Storms are much heavier and sharper. Make sure to stay safe during the season.
I always enjoy rainy days because it means that I can rest. Having no sunlight makes it difficult to paint, so it’s automatically a day off for me. By the way, I have returned from a much-needed time away.
So, let’s talk about what hasn’t worked out. In a creative business, there’s no set-in-stone method that works for every artist. It’s more about testing methods, finding out what works and what doesn’t, and moving on from the ones that don’t.
In my case, I had made a Substack newsletter with all the positivity in mind that it would work out wonderfully. The platform is well-known, and people trust it. But that’s the thing: it will always be someone else’s platform, not mine.
I dunno if their SEO is even working in my favor. Individuals subscribing feels like it’s taking longer than usual. Not to mention zero connection. If anything, it seems like I’m competing with other artists instead of us all supporting each other. Social media already does that. Why would I have to fight for an audience with my newsletter?
With that being said, I am resorting back to my own website.
This time, though, will be the last. No more automated goodies, no more trying to make things easier. Just me and you. There will be no time frame for when I send out this newsletter. But one thing will be consistent:
I will share the following:
- Behind-the-scenes content
- Newest painting reveals
- Free short stories
- Creative insights
- Faith-based motivation
I pray that all these things will be more useful than me ranting about problems or forcing myself to write fillers twice a month.
If this sounds great to you, please do subscribe. I’d love to have you.
